Blegen (Brooks) Thalia, age 92, formerly of St. Louis Park, died September 10, 2005. Preceded in death by husbands, Carl N. Blegen Sr, and Jay Brooks; sisters, Esther Hedberg, Jessie Reps, Mabel Booth, Elma Jones, Olga Blegen, Florence Arneson; brothers, Wallace, Jasper, and Barton Jenson. Survived by daughters, Kathryn Matchett (Terry) and Betsy Blegen; son, Carl Blegen (Madeline); grandchildren, Karin Matchett, Kristen Zerse (Tommy), Steven Matchett, Nicole Marcotte (Todd), Alex Stenback (Kelly); great- grandchildren, Maddie, Grady, and Truman Zerse, T.J., Zach, and Devyn Marcotte. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Thalia grew up on a farm in Pierce County, Wisconsin. She married Carl Sr. and they lived in Winona for several years, moving to St. Louis Park in 1950. They joined Westwood Lutheran Church at that time, and Thalia has been a member ever since. For many years she worked in the cafeteria at Prudential Life Insurance. She married Jay Brooks in 1997. They lived their last years at St. Therese Home in New Hope. Memorial service 1:00 pm Wednesday at Westwood Lutheran Church, 9001 S. Cedar Lake Rd. St. Louis Park.
