Truer Tamara Chaney was born on New Year's Day 1954 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Having fought metastasized breast cancer for over 4 years, she succumbed on Monday, October 7, 2002. She was curator and site director of the Debs Museum and the Vigo County Historical Society in Terre Haute. When she moved to Minneapolis in 1984, she worked briefly for the Minnesota Historical Society, then ran the Gibbs Farm Museum. She was also past president and board member of the Hennepin History Museum. In 2001, a play she co-wrote with Anne Welsbacher about Debs, ''Empire Builder,'' was produced at Robbinsdale High School. Tamara was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo Chaney. She is survived by her husband, Jere Truer; daughter, Kathleen Ellyse Baer-Truer; father, Buena Chaney; mother-in-law, Margaret Trulson; sister, Lisa (Tom) Baer, and nieces, Crystal and Betsy Baer. Memorial Service will be held at First Congregational Church of MN, 500 8th Ave SE, Mpls at 11 AM Sat., Oct. 12, 2002. Cremation Society of MN 612-825-2435
