Swanson, Steven R. age 62 of Monticello, passed away while enjoying time in Cass Lake, Minnesota on Sunday July 3, 2022. Steve was born on October 28, 1959 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Richard and Susan (nee Hedden) Swanson. Steve grew up in Bloomington, MN attending grade school through his junior year at Jefferson High School. He then moved with his family to Grand Forks, North Dakota where he graduated from Red River High School in 1978. He attended Dakota County Vocational Technical school and obtained his meat cutter apprenticeship. Steve joined the Meat Cutter Union and was an active member of the union for 30 years. Steve married Dawn Murray in 1987 and together they raised Angela, Sarah & Brent in Mound and Rockford. In March 2011, Steve fell ill and was hospitalized for 6 months battling for his life. He recovered but had life changing obstacles now. But what remained was his humor, his love for his kids and grandchildren, and his daily talks with his Dad and his Mom before she passed. Steve was preceded in death by his son, Brent, and his mother Sue. Steve is survived by his loving family members. Losing our beloved Dad is heartbreaking. We know how loved he was and are so incredibly thankful for the time we had with him. Funeral Service Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. Community United Methodist Church, 9225 Jason Ave NE, Monticello, MN 55362. Visitation 2:00 P.M. until time of services AT THE CHURCH. Luncheon to follow at the church.
