Ruth Santelman Hoffert Obituary

Hoffert One month short of her 99th birthday, Ruth Santelman Hoffert died peacefully at Friendship Village in Bloommington, Minnesota on March 7, 2003. Ruth was born and raised in Frontenac, Minnesota. She was a graduate of Hamline University, where she met her husband of 56 years, Henry E. Hoffert. She taught at West High School before raising two daughters, Mary Jo and Emily. She was a resident of Edina for over 50 years, where her Wooddale home in the country club section was her pride and joy. She loved gardening and was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was a long time member of the Minneapolis Women's Club, the Minikahda Club, and Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church. In her later years Ruth rode her stationary bicycle at least 5 miles a day to the delight of passing neighbors. Later still she graduated to a walker where wheels were rarely at rest. Ruth is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Mary Jo & Bruce Byson of California; and by her twin sisters, Helen Meyer of Indianapolis and Hazel Stauffer of Bloomington. There will be a memorial service at a later date. WERNESS BROTHERS 612-927-8641
