Salmela Ruth Marie, 85, of Embarrass, MN, formerly of Duluth, died Wed., Jan. 29, 2003 at the Virginia Convalescent Center. She is survived by her son, Charles (Marja-Liisa) Salmela of Duluth; daughters, Barbara (Ruben) Besonen of Mpls and Milli (Barry) Bissonett of Ely; grandchildren, Jon Paul (Stacy) Besonen of Hanover, MN, Daniel (Tiffany) Besonen of Menahga, MN, Maria Besonen of Mpls, Elias and Emma Bissonett of Ely; 1 great-grandchild, Anna Besonen of Menahga; sister, Verna Hargis of Carlton; brothers, Elmer (Sylvia) Johnson of Parkville, Adolf (Virginia) Johnson of Embarrass, Gordon Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aunes; brother, Arthur Johnson; sisters, Helen (Skarp) Yliniemi and Mildred Garvue. Visitation one hour prior to the 11:30 am funeral service Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church in Embarrass. Arr. by Range Funeral Home in Virginia.
