Youngquist Robertson, of Kensington, Maryland, formerly of Minneapolis, died at the age of 86 on December 20, 2002 after a brief illness. Mr. Youngquist was born in Crookston, MN on May 16, 1916. He attended Blake School in Hopkins, studied aeronautical engineering at MIT, graduating 1941, and went on to become a pioneer in our country's rocket engineering program. Some of the early rockets which he helped design are displayed in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Mr. Youngquist is survived by his loving daughters, Maia McDowell of Rohrersville, MD and Elizabeth Walsh of Ashton, MD; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Goetz of Minneapolis, by nephews, John Goetz and Will Goetz of Minneapolis and Guy Wikman of Edina, and by niece, Ann Swenson of Edina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Youngquist (Hinze) of Pine City, MN; brother, Jack Youngquist of Minneapolis; sister, Scharlie Wikman Remele of Minneapolis; and parents, Aaron & Scharlie Youngquist of Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 AM at the Audubon's Society's Woodend Sanctuary, 8940 Jones Mill Road, Chevy Chase, MD.
