McCoy, Robert Wilson "Bob" age 83, of Golden Valley, died peacefully Sunday, May 23, 2010 after a long bout with Alzheimer's disease. Beloved husband of Margaret Horrobin McCoy, and dearly loved father of Doug (Marianna), Heather (Gary Weisel), and Bruce (Jon Breen). Proud grandfather of Jenni, Tommy, Nora, Katie, and Sophia. Also survived by sister Carol Dharamsey of Larchmont, NY. Son of the late R. Wilson McCoy & Dorothy McCoy Canniff, née Rainwater. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, WWII veteran, graduate of Washington University, St. Louis. Former president of the American Humanist Association. Early champion of women's reproductive rights. Advocate for prison reform. Founder of the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices, with numerous television appearances including "Late Night with David Letterman" where he demonstrated his signature Phrenology machines. Fifty year member of First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis. He was a man of many talents and interests: hobby printer, excellent storyteller, public speaker, skilled debater, vintage car enthusiast, mechanical wizard, animal lover, art collector, champion of the underdog. Memorials preferred to The Alzheimer's Association, First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, Planned Parenthood.
