Richard J. McCarthy Obituary

McCarthy Richard J. McCarthy of Wayzata (8/27/18- 1/15/02). Son of Lydia and Thomas McCarthy. Survived by loving wife Joyce of 59 years; daughters, Karen (James) Jordan, Ann & Mary; granddaughter, Jola Zeller; sister, Alice (Robert) Tollefson; extended family and friends. Dick was raised in Morton, MN and served in the Army during WWII attaining the rank of Major and was awarded the Bronze Star. Graduated from the University of MN, owner and president of Shaver & McCarthy. Served on the Wayzata City Council, member of Wayzata Rotary, Lions Club, Wayzata Legion, Hamel VFW and Minneapolis DAV. Dick had a lifelong love of fishing, hunting and spending time at Smokey Hollow. Memorial service Thurs. 1/17/02, 11:30 AM at Redeemer Lutheran, 115 West Wayzata Blvd. (952-473-1281). Memorials preferred to the Salvation Army.
