Oscar Akerlund Obituary

Akerlund Oscar "Skip" Ole August, age 75, Parker, CO, died July 16, 2003. Born Jan. 13, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of Carl Oscar and Anne (Jensen) Akerlund. In 1946, he graduated from Admunsen High School in Chicago, IL, and graduated from the University of MN with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He served in the US Army from 1946-48. After the service, he went back to Chicago and worked for Panelet, an electronics company, where he was an engineer. In 1962, he moved to Fridley, MN with his family. After 25 years, he retired from Control Data in Bloomington, MN, where he was Vice President of Quality Control. He then retired with his wife to Walden Lakes in Plant City, FL. He enjoyed golf, and helped raise his two grandchildren. He had married Joyce Merry in Chicago, IL, who preceded him in death. Also preceded by brother, Norman Akerlund. Survivors include son, Doug Akerlund, Parker, CO; brother, Paul (Florence) Akerlund, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Ashley & Andrew Akerlund, Parker, CO. No services were held. Arr. Parker Funeral Home, Parker, CO.
