Riess Norma F., age 85, of North Oaks, died peacefully on December 19, 2002. Preceded in death by husband, Merle; son, David; daughter, Eileen; grandson, Bryan and brother, Merton Haggardt. Survived by children, Nancy (Melvin) Rappaport, Elaine (Allen) Krueger and Allen (Peggy) Riess; grandchildren, Kimberly (Kevin) O'Connor, Patricia (Richard) Kubicka, Jason, Adam and Eric Riess; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kasey O'Connor and Christian Kubicka; brother, Marvin Haggardt; sister, Margaret Gauger; sisters-in-law, Reine Haggardt and Rose Marie Beadle; daughter-in-law, Joyce Riess. She was devoted to her family and blessed with deep and lasting friendships. She enjoyed reading, walking and traveling and she delighted in the beauty of the seasons. A lifelong Minnesota resident, she was a dedicated teacher for 20 years, first in one-room rural schools, and later in elementary and special education in Moorhead. Creative with her hands, she left beautiful examples of her sewing, cross-stitching and crocheting. We will miss her wisdom, her laughter, and her generosity of spirit. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Alterra Clare Bridge of North Oaks. Memorial service 12:30 PM Sunday, December 22 at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM NORTH CHAPEL, 515 Hwy 96 at Mackubin, Shoreview, with a gathering of friends and family beginning at 11 AM.
