Backlund Mary Louise Mathews Backlund, 71, of Bloomington, died May 24. Preceded in death by parents, Odelon and Inez Mathews. Survived by husband of 47 years, Oscar; daughters, Elizabeth (James) Danielson and Alice; grandchildren, Ian, Soren, and Jocelyn; and hundreds of friends. Graduate of Macalester College ('53), former employee of Channel 11, Guthrie Theatre, Teamsters' Local 289, actress, cookbook author, and extraordinary friend. Involved in theater for many years, board member of ACTA and Theatre in the Round, active in Sons of Norway Norumbega Lodge, volunteer with Ebenezer Auxiliary Hands and Hearts, PEO, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Memorial service will be held Thursday May 29th at 2 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethlehem Music Series.
