Judson, John Irving 89, award-winning poet, novelist, playwright and professor died on October 2, 2019. He was born in Stratford, CT to Irving & Edna Judson on September 9, 1930. We will miss his kind, gentle presence and his singing on key to every song he heard. Judson, of Minneapolis, MN (formerly of La Crosse, WI), was preceded in death by his parents and son, William. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Carol, and children Lisa (Tom) Spencer of Rancho Mirage, CA; Gary (Terri) Judson and grandchildren Julia and Evan Judson and Audrey and Carson Nida of Edina, MN; Sara (Jesse) Heinzen and granddaughter Emma of St. Louis Park, MN; and sister Patricia Niidas and nieces Karin, Heidi, Kristi and Katrina of Kingfield, ME. He was a greatly respected English and Creative Writing professor for over 26 years at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He was also creator, editor and publisher of Juniper Press and Northeast Magazine for 50 years. Memorial service will be Friday, October 11 at 10:30 am at Jones-Harrison Residence, 3700 Cedar Lake Avenue, St. Louis Park, MN 55416. Arrangements by Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by Joanne Judson in Apartment W109 at address listed above for funding to repair/replace the organ in the Centrum at Jones-Harrison to honor John's love of music.
