JoAnn (Stevens) Carlson Obituary

Carlson JoAnn Carlson (nee Stevens), age 56, of Chanhassen, passed away June 7, 2003. Preceded in death by mother, Mildred E. Stevens. JoAnn is survived by her husband, James R. Carlson; son, Matthew J. Carlson; father, Glenn A. Stevens; brother, Jerald M. (Bev) Stevens; nephews, Matt & Cody Stevens; many other relatives & wonderful friends. JoAnn was born in Bemidji, MN and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1965. She earned a B.S. in Education from the U of MN and M.S. from Bemidji State University. JoAnn taught elementary school in St. Paul, MN and was active in Bible Study Fellowship, Lutheran Cursillo, Hazeltine Jr. Golf, and the St. Francis Hospital Foundation. JoAnn had a remarkable spirit and showed all who knew and loved her amazing grace, courage, and strength throughout her life and for the past 13 and one half years during her illness. She was a beautiful person and is now at peace in the loving arms of Jesus. The family thanks all who loved and cared for her. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mt. Olivet Church West or the American Cancer Society. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 1 pm at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, W. 50th St. at Knox Ave. S., Mpls., with visitation one hour before the service and reception following. Private interment, Bemidji.
