Longie James S., age 95, of Crystal. Preceded in death by parents; and son, James E.; many brothers and sisters. Survived by wife, Geraldine; children, Jack (Margaret), Jerry (Loris), Janice (Bob) Goranson, Johny (Donna), Jeff (Marilyn), Joel (Sherry); 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. A lifelong volunteer. In 1987 he was named Minnesota's Outstanding Senior Citizen. Gov. Rudy Perpich named May 5, 1988 as James S. Longie Day. In 1997 he received the Congregational Gold Medal of Honor from Minnesota Congressman Jim Ramstad. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10:30 AM at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 7301 Bass Lake Road, Crystal. Visitation Wednesday (TODAY) 5-8 PM, with a Rosary service 7 PM at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope. Visitation also one hour prior to Mass at church.
