Thayer James A., of Fridley, passed on peacefully May 23, 2002. He was a loving father and husband, married to Janet Bell Thayer for 52 years. He is survived by sister, Rosemary Freeman; children & their families, Nancy (Jim), Annie, Mary, Bob (Nancy), Bill (Marissa), Laurie; 10 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Winkie; nephew, Stephen Hawkins; and many other cherished relatives and friends. Jim was an aerospace design engineer for Minneapolis Honeywell for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII. Community service included terms as chairman of the Fridley School Board and president of the Fridley Lions Club. He was a dedicated member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, New Brighton. Hobbies included skiing, fishing, hunting, softball, bowling, trap shooting, auto repair and house projects. Memorial service 2 PM Saturday, June 8 at Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave S., Mpls. Family and friends are invited to share memories of Jim at the service.
