Jacqueline Elizabeth Shipley Petersen Obituary

Petersen Jacqueline Elizabeth Shipley, born February 19, 1926, died March 4, 2003. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, she moved to the Twin Cities in 1951. She raised three children while staying active in the Great Books Club. When her children were older, she went to work at the Veterans' Administration and later she became a writer for the Army Corps. of Engineers, a job she truly enjoyed. She was the person to ask if you ever wanted to know, "what in the world is a dangling participle?" After retirement, she was active with the Nature Conservancy. A member of a neighborhood women's book club, she was known for her unique point of view. Sadly missed by daughter, Kristin Petersen; sons, Eric and Carl; brother, Don Shipley; son-in-law, Phil Swetin; grandson, Benjamin Petersen; daughter-in-law, Pamela Waller; and many wonderful friends. A gathering was held in her honor at the home of her good friends, Myrel and Dave Lundsten on March 8th.
