Winkel (VISITATION TODAY) Isobel F. (nee, Browne), age 88, of Lilydale died on August 9, 2002. Born November 5, 1913. Preceded in death by husband Adrian; son Gregory; daughter Mary; granddaughter Jennifer; parents William & Frances Browne; sisters Gertrude Benda and Elizabeth Elkjer; brother William Browne. She is survived by her beloved sons John, Thomas, Matthew and Mark; grandchildren Joshua (Taryn), Adrianna, Katherine (Daniel), Amanda, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Mack Neal (step-grandson); great grandchildren Zachary and Thea Somdahl; daughters-in-law Kathleen, Carol, Jodette and Heather; sisters Mary Ann Wruck and Dorothy Spang; sister-in-law Vera Browne; brothers Donald Browne and John M. (Vida) Browne; many nieces and nephews; a special niece, Francey Benda Wilson; and three special friends, Margaret Burke (childhood and adolescence), Bridget Ryan (college) and Virginia Carlson (marriage and widowhood years). Isobel was a graduate of the college of St. Benedict. During her later years, she pursued a career in developmental reading, teaching children with learning disabilities. Illiteracy became her passion. Interment private at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Mendota. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at the Historic Church of St. Peter in Mendota at 9:00 am Tuesday. Father Kevin Clinton, a beloved friend, will celebrate the Mass. Friends may come to visit with Isobel's family from 3 to 7 pm on Monday at Willwerscheid West-Heights Chapel, 235 Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul.
