Strickland, Hellen 8/8/23 - 10/13/19, Age 96, James Freeman's daughter, born in Birmingham, England. As a young woman she assembled detonators for the war effort. When WWII ended she met American soldier Byron Strickland as he awaited his ship home. He proposed, then brought her to America - first River Grove, IL, and later Edina, MN. They lived a full and happy life together. Her generous heart touched many. Preceded in death by Byron, she is survived by sons Christopher (Jean Wolosik) and Paul (Carolyn Rehn), sister-in-law Dorothy Pliakas, and neices and nephews on the East Coast and in England. At her request a private service will be held. Memorials preferred to Vision Loss Resources.
