Denn Gerard ''Jerry'', age 92, of Hastings, suddenly on January 14, 2002. Preceded in death by beloved wife, Mary Anne ''Marian''; daughter, Mary Joan; son, Paul John; granddaughter, Christine; & 16 brothers & sisters. Will be deeply missed by sons, Gerald (Pauline) & James (Rose); also 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren & 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Cahill & brother, Sylvester (Dorothy); special friend, Helen Mollick; & many other relatives & friends. One of 19 children (the tenth) born to John & Margaret (Weiler) Denn; a farmer at heart, a master carpenter & craftsman, and 50 years as a quality builder/contractor, retired at age 84; avid outdoorsman & an accomplished golfer in his later years (never touched a club until he was 75). A child of God, a strong man of unquestioned integrity and generosity who helped many & never hurt anyone. He cared & made a difference, & left the world a better place than he found it. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Friday at ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. Interment church cemetery. Visitation 4-8 PM Thursday at CATURIA-SMIDT FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. 7th Street, Hastings, & 1 hr. prior to service at church Friday. Parish Vigil 4 PM Thursday.
