Gerald L. Stageberg Obituary

Stageberg Gerald (Jerry) L. (aka ''Flyweel''), died July 2, 2002 at the age of 77 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Elizabeth (Schott) Stageberg, and his brother, David Stageberg. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Shirley McCullen; his son, Bruce Stageberg; grandson Grainger Stageberg and a number of step-children and step-grandchildren and many wonderful friends and associates. Jerry was born in the Northwest corner bedroom of his grandparents home in Franklin, MN on October 13, 1924. He often recalled fond memories of his grandparents, Oscar and Hannah Schott, Olaf and Susie Stageberg whom he loved very much and his childhood there. He later moved up ''to the cities'' as a young person with his Mom & Dad, and spent part of his life in Alaska during World War II as an airplane mechanic for Northwest Airlines. Jerry was a collector of ''sorts'' and he loved to tour visitors through his ''museum''. His consuming love of cars and motorcycles took him on many journeys around the United State's and the world including Guatemala, Alaska (twice) and British Columbia just to name a few. He belonged to the Antique Motorcycle Club, the Classic Car Club, the ''Blind Lizards'' and any other motorcycle or car club that he could find to further associate with the people and the activities that meant the most to him. Until his retirement in 1991 Jerry owned and ran the Collision Center and was a master of his profession. He taught at the Vo-Tech and took young people under his wing many times, teaching the ''tricks of the trade'' and nurturing a blossoming young artist and/or a troubled teen. I love you Dad. You have lived a good life. Many will sorely miss you. His service will be held at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave S, Edina MN (952-924-4100), scheduled for July 28, 2002 at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Redeemer Residence, 625 W. 31st Street Mpls, MN 55407
