Bennett Georgia, 85, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Wed., June 12, 2002 in St. Petersburg. Born in Excelsior, MN, she was a lifelong resident of Mpls before moving to Florida in 2001 to be near her daughter. She retired after 35 years as a teacher for the Mpls School System. She received her teaching certificate from Miss Wood's School for Women in 1935 and her BA degree in 1949 from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. She was the first female wireless radio operator and air traffic controller for United Airlines. She was a 60-year member of Harmony Chapter, #293 O.E.S. in Richfield. Survivors include daughter, Sheila B. Rickey, St. Petersburg; sister, Bernice Weatherly, San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Toni Paulhamus, Pinellas Park; 2 great-grandchildren, Brandin and Baylie Paulhamus.
