Smith Esther E. Smith (AKA) Lumijarvi, longtime resident of Mpls., was born April 24, 1908 in Quincy, OR to Joseph & Greta Johanna Lumijarvi. She studied at Oregon College of Education, Portland State, San Francisco State, and University of MN. She taught elementary grades in Quincy, OR, Washougal, WA, San Mateo, CA and Mpls. for 12 years as Master Teacher. Esther married Addison M. Smith June 15, 1940. She was active in 4-H and AAUW. She moved from Augustana Home of Mpls. to Colorado Springs in Nov. 2000 and passed away Jan. 7, 2002. She is lovingly remembered by son, Dr. Stephen A. Smith, daughter-in-law, Ms. Teresa A. Maki, Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Richard Jones, Christine Spangler, Stephen Smith II, Bradley Smith, Mark Jones; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Jones, Spencer Jones, Bailey Spangler, Brandon Spangler. Services will be held at Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary, Clatskanie, OR on Sat. at 11 AM. Rev. Ron Jacobson officiating. Memorials to 4-H Youth, 505 N.
