Earl A. Hummel Obituary

Hummel Earl A., age 78, of Minneapolis, MN, died peacefully February 22, 2003. Survived by wife of 50 years, Barbara; sons, David and Dwight Hummel; daughter, Sharon (Tom) Getzke; and sister, Betty (Glenn) Nielson. Earl was very proud of his three grandchildren, John and Dan Getzke and Sarah Hummel. Together with Barbara, he owned a fine home, raised his children and retired after a successful 43-year career with Gould National Battery. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with mechanical projects, observing how things work and giving advice on repairing just about anything. His love of Barbershop singing twice helped him earn "Barbershopper of the Year" recognition from the Good Times Chorus of Bloomington, S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. For nearly 50 years, Earl volunteered his extraordinary musical talent to brighten many lives, especially those in area nursing homes, who will miss his warm smile and deep bass voice. Now the heavenly angels have a new voice in their choir. Funeral service Thursday 2 PM at Werness Brothers Funeral Chapel, 3500 W. 50th St. Mpls. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 PM at Werness Brothers. WERNESS BROTHERS 612-927-8641
