Shives Donna Jarvenpa Shives, age 55, died June 28, 2002 at the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Center in Santa Rosa, CA, after a long struggle with breast cancer. Donna was born Marcy 22, 1947 in Duluth, MN to Otmar (Mike) and Mae Jarvenpa. She graduated from Duluth East High School in 1965, the University of Minnesota in 1969, and received a Master's Degree in Education from the University of the Pacific, Pasadena, CA in 1980. She married Robert Shives of San Diego, CA October 4, 1986. They resided in Petaluma, CA and she taught Early Childhood Education at Santa Rosa Junior College. Donna is survived by her husband, Robert, 874 Cherry Street, Petaluma, CA, 94952; her father, Otmar Jarvenpa of Spring Park, MN; sisters, Patsy Williams of St. Cloud, MN and Sharon Stinson of Maple Plain, MN; brother, Michael Jarvenpa of Duluth, MN; and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mae Jarvenpa; and niece, Julianne Williams. Memorial services will be in Petaluma, CA. Memorials will be to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for breast cancer research.
