Betty Hurley Obituary

Hurley, Betty Louise Age 86, passed away and was reunited with her husband Richard, on September 30, 2019. Betty was born on July 12, 1933 to Orville and Margaret Schulberg in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married the love of her life Dick, in March 1953. They enjoyed 65 years together and raised 4 daughters: Beth, Laura, Lisa and Mary. Her life centered around her unconditional love for her family. Betty was creative and a perfectionist. She had an extraordinary talent in making baby buntings & blankets, Irish sweaters and intricate cross stitch. Especially cherished are the Christmas stockings for the grandchildren and great grand-children. She & Dick loved spending time at their cabin on Leech Lake, entertaining family and friends. However, playing cribbage with Dick had long been a favorite pastime. They began keeping a written tally of their games in 1992, and by 2018 they were at 8,207. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dick. She is survived by her girls, Beth Tracy (Brad), Laura Rodekuhr (Gary), Lisa Johnson (Al) and Mary Overgaard (Shane), 12 grandchildren and 13 great grand-children. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held for Betty at Smith Coffee and Café, 8107 Eden Prairie Rd. in Eden Prairie from 5-8pm on Saturday, October 26. Memorials preferred to Brighton Hospice.
