Groettum Alice (Gertsen) Groettum of North Branch, MN (formerly of Congers, NY), died on Saturday, March 9 at Green Acres Country Care Center. She was 86. Daughter of Oscar and Martha Hollison, she was born in Minneapolis on January 26, 1916. She was married to Cal Gertsen from 1940 until he passed in 1981. In 1996, she married John Groettum who passed in 2001. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, NY until 1953, and Congers Methodist Church in Congers, NY until 1996. She also served as a volunteer at Nyack Hospital, Nyack, NY for over 10 years. Survivors include her sister, Marian Hagen of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter, Nancy Stansfield and her husband Dean of Slate Hill, NY, and a son, Glenn Gertsen and his wife Florence of Westtown, NY; four grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. Cremation will be at the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Westtown, NY on April 7, 2002. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Green Acres Country Care Center, Gazebo Fund, North Branch, MN, or to the Alzheimer's Association in your area.
