Gitzen Alfred J., Beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 82, of St. Paul, on April 13, 2003. Preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Agnes; 8 children, Margaret (Donald) Ambrose, Charles (Kathy), Richard (Cynthia), Sharon (Nels) Nerison, John (Cynthia), Joseph (Therese), Paul and Robert Gitzen; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome (Joan) Gitzen; nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Monday 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM in the HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM FUNERAL HOME, 536 N. Snelling Ave., and at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 10:00 AM at the CHURCH OF ST. COLUMBA, Lafond and Hamline Aves. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Life member of Knights of Columbus and long time member of St. Columba Church. Memorials preferred. 651-646-2844.
